Subject Overview
Web Technologies enables students to build web pages using HTML, DHTML, CSS and JavaScript — introductory HTML and text formatting, tables/links/frames and DHTML, JavaScript fundamentals and its advantages, and forms and JavaScript objects. A 5-credit core theory paper.

Unit 1: Introduction to HTML
Web server and browser communication, HTML tags, document head/body structure, titles and footers, text formatting, heading styles, text styles, lists, adding graphics with border/width/height/align/alt attributes
Unit 2: Tables, links, frames and DHTML
Table structure with header/data rows/caption, cell padding/spacing/BGCOLOR/colspan/rowspan attributes, internal and external document links, image maps, frames and framesets, cascading style sheets
Unit 3: Introduction to JavaScript
JavaScript in web pages, database connectivity, client-side JavaScript, capturing user input, advantages of JavaScript (interpreted, embedded, minimal syntax, quick development, procedural capabilities), writing JavaScript into HTML
Unit 4: Forms and JavaScript objects
The form object and its element methods (text, password, button, submit, reset, checkbox, radio, textarea, select and multi-choice lists), built-in objects (String, Math, Date), user-defined objects and instances
