Unit 1: Serology and mycology bench work

Blood collection by venipuncture and serum separation; Widal, VDRL (with antigen preparation), ASO, CRP and RF serological tests; immunofluorescence, immunodiffusion (Ouchterlony), CCIEP, ELISA, SDS-PAGE and western blotting demonstration; culture media preparation for mycology; fungal staining and identification (yeast and mould cultures), demonstration of fungal dimorphism; processing clinical samples (skin, nail, hair, body fluids) for fungal diagnosis
