Subject Overview
C.A.D.-2 introduces CorelDRAW as a vector-based design tool for creating professional artwork, advertisements, brochures and logos — complementing Photoshop's bitmap-based approach from C.A.D.-1. You'll learn the CorelDRAW interface and drawing/shaping tools, fills, outlines and object arrangement, paragraph text and colour tools, and close with object transformation, clipart, and bitmap handling. This is a 2-credit core practical paper across 4 units, assessed through a practical examination.

Unit 1: Interface & drawing tools
Exploring the CorelDRAW screen, page and workspace management, the Freehand tool, drawing lines and polylines, special effects — envelope shaping, extruding, blending, lens effects, perspectives, power clips
Unit 2: Fill, outline & object arrangement
Fill tool, fountain and pattern fill, interactive mesh fill, copying attributes, grouping/ungrouping, guidelines, aligning objects, combining, breaking and welding objects
Unit 3: Text & colour tools
Importing and sizing paragraph text, formatting paragraph frames, wrapping text around objects, drop caps, fitting text to a path, colour palettes, fills and outlines, Eyedropper and Smart Fill tools
Unit 4: Object transformation & bitmaps
Sizing, transforming, mirroring, rotating and skewing objects, converting text to curves, creating blended text shadows, symbols and clipart, working with bitmaps
