Subject Overview
History of World Textiles builds a designer's visual reference library by studying the textiles of different regions of the world — their history, origin, technique and defining features — so students can recognise and draw inspiration from historical textile pieces. You'll study tapestries, laces and carpets, then embroideries, brocades, and Chinese and Japanese textiles, and close with the fabrics of South East Asia, Africa and the Americas. This is a 3-credit core theory paper across 3 units.
