Subject Overview
Home Furnishing is a weaving-focused studio paper exploring surface alteration through material, colour and count for interior textiles. Students set up a single-colour warp to weave at least 15 samples using non-conventional weft materials (jute, paper, ribbons, coir, feathers, fancy yarns, laces), identifying proposed end-uses and calculating the cost factor for each. This is a 2-credit core practical paper, assessed on understanding, material exploration, skill, and finish.

Unit 1: Sample weaving with non-conventional materials
Setting up a single-colour warp, weaving at least 15 samples of 8"x10" using non-conventional weft materials — jute, paper, ribbons, coir, dori, feathers, fancy yarns, laces
Unit 2: End-use identification & costing
Identifying proposed end-uses for woven samples with appropriate sketches, calculating the cost factor for each sample, demonstration and practical weaving on sample looms
