Communication concept, models and process, characteristics of effective communication, barriers, communication and ethics, cross-cultural communication, collaborative writing, social networking technologies, listening, business etiquette and non-verbal communication
Unit 2: The three-step writing process
Analyzing the situation before writing, information-gathering and organization, adapting to the audience, crafting brief and electronic messages, writing routine/positive/negative messages, planning and writing reports, proposals and emails
Unit 3: Oral and online presentations
Developing oral and online presentations, enhancing presentations with slides and visual aids, just-a-minute presentations, individual/group presentations, overcoming glossophobia, group discussion
Unit 4: Employment communication
Employment strategy, planning and writing resumes, applying and interviewing for employment, understanding, preparing and follow-up, role play and simulation of employer-employee and interviewer-interviewee relationships
