Unit 1: IoT architecture and enabling technologies

Architectural overview, design principles, IoT applications, sensing and actuation, basics of networking, M2M and IoT technology fundamentals, wireless sensor networks, cloud computing, big data analytics, communication protocols, embedded systems, IoT levels and templates, data management, XaaS, role of cloud in IoT, security aspects

Unit 2: Hardware and software components

Computing platforms (Arduino, Raspberry Pi), communication, sensing and actuation, I/O interfaces, programming APIs using Python/Node.js/Arduino, communication protocols — MQTT, ZigBee, Bluetooth, CoAP, UDP, TCP

Unit 3: IoT application development and case studies

Solution framework for IoT applications, device integration, data acquisition and integration, unstructured data storage on cloud/local server, device authentication and authorization, case studies and mini projects in industrial automation, transportation, agriculture, healthcare and home automation
