9th Convocation at SBS: Celebrating the Batches of 2022-25 and 2023-26

500+ students, faculty and dignitaries, first-generation graduates, IKGPTU M.Com university topper Zayn Zahir and merit list holders Tabassum and Nidhi: inside SBS's 9th Convocation, where every graduate heard one message, this is only the beginning.

One Hall, 500+ People, and Years of Hard Work Coming Home

On 1 November 2026, SBS (Synetic College), Ludhiana held its 9th Convocation, celebrating the graduating batches of 2022-25 and 2023-26. The hall was full long before the first name was called: graduates in red stoles, proud families, faculty in green, and dignitaries in gold. For many in that room, it was the day they had been working towards for years.

A Room Full of Firsts

What made this convocation special was not the stage, the stoles or the photographs. It was who was walking across that stage.

Many of this year's graduates are first-generation graduates, the first in their families to earn a degree. Many come from lower-income backgrounds, where every semester's fee and every early morning commute was a sacrifice shared by the whole family. When their names were called, the applause was not only for them. It was for the parents who believed, the siblings who helped, and the years of effort that brought them here.

For a first-generation graduate, a degree is not just a certificate. It is a new beginning for an entire family.

Students From Across the World

SBS is home to students from across India and many countries, and the convocation reflected it. Graduates from different states and nations stood side by side, each with a different journey to Ludhiana and the same pride on the day.

Toppers Who Made the Whole College Proud

This convocation also celebrated academic excellence at the highest level:

  • University Topper, M.Com: Zayn Zahir topped the entire I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) in M.Com, and was honoured with a special recognition for course toppers
  • University Merit List: Tabassum (M.Sc IT) and Nidhi (M.Com) earned places on the IKGPTU university merit list
  • Course toppers recognised: outstanding performers across programmes received special recognition on stage

For a college, there is no better proof of what its classrooms, faculty and mentoring can do.

More than 500 students, faculty members and dignitaries took part, including leaders from academia and industry, school principals and directors. Guests of honour were welcomed and felicitated by the SBS leadership, and their presence reminded graduates that the wider community is watching, and cheering, as they step into their careers.
