Subject Overview
Parasitology and Virology covers the general characteristics, life cycle and laboratory diagnosis of medically important protozoa and helminths — Giardia, Entamoeba, roundworms, hookworms, tapeworms and the malarial parasite — along with concentration techniques for ova, then introduces medical virology: viral classification, sample collection and processing (egg inoculation, tissue culture) and viral staining technique. A 4-credit elective theory paper.
