Subject Overview
Traditional Indian Embroideries introduces students to the origin, history, technique, colours, motifs and social/religious significance of India's traditional embroidery crafts, with students embroidering prototype samples of each technique studied. You'll study Kantha, Phulkari and Kashida in the first unit, and Kutch and Chikankari in the second, alongside a field visit to a craft museum or exhibition. This is a 2-credit core practical paper across 2 units.
